Development and Marketing Assistant

Purpose: to assist the Director of Development and Marketing with donations and all aspects of fundraising for the school. This position emphasizes the promotion of the school, private strategic gathering and disseminating information to raise the awareness and image of the school within its own constituency and in the broader community to increase financial support and enrollment.

Supervisor Title: Director of Development and Marketing

Development

  • Develop direct mail messages and collateral materials in accordance with the Development Plan.

  • Provide organization, production and maintenance of annual campaign materials.

  • Implement on-going personal/written/phone contact with donors/potential donors.

  • Process, record and acknowledge gifts in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for soliciting sponsorships, ticket sales, auction items, etc. to ensure meeting financial goal(s) for fundraising events.

  • Identify and implement event timelines, budget and logistics for all fundraising events.

  • Recruit volunteer committee members and event chairs and provide them an engaging volunteer experience.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Development and Marketing and Administration to ensure the goals of the school community are met.

  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality on all matters relating to school business and work within established school operating procedures.

Marketing

  • Create marketing materials to keep donors informed of needs, development programs and activities, and opportunities to give including the school’s annual report and email.

  • Evaluate strategies for effective, targeted enrollment marketing messages in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment.

  • Prepare marketing materials for the Director of Enrollment and school-wide programs as directed by the Director of Development and Marketing.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Development and Marketing and staff to maintain marketing design, and production calendar. 

  • Network with community parishes and media to raise awareness and visibility of the school.

  • Coordinate messaging with the school Media and Alumni Relations Coordinator for all social media placement.

  • Serve as backup (in the #2 position) as needed to post messages on social media outlets in a timely manner and as directed by the Administration.

  • Serve as backup (in #2 position) to maintain and update the school website with current information, to include the weekly Knightline.

  • Serve at the backup (in the #2 position) to maintain, market and sell promotional gear for the school store periodically throughout the year and at major school events.

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed, a person in this position handles other tasks as they emerge and performs other duties as assigned; assumes such other relevant position-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Development and Marketing or Principal; and serves as a member of other committees/councils as may be specified by the Director of Development and Marketing or Principal.

Professional Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or have significant experience in fundraising and public relations.

  • Minimum three years development experience, including annual campaigns preferred.

  • Experience in fundraising in an educational environment is preferred.

  • Strong organizational, administration, interpersonal communication skills, detail and “big picture” oriented.

  • Skills in preparing written reports and proposals.

  • Solid writing, editing and presentation ability.

  • Professional demeanor, flexible and able to respond to multiple demands.

  • Must possess reliable transportation and be approved by an insurance carrier to drive a personal vehicle.

  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule and location.

  • Knowledge of social media and website management preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, InDesign and donor database management preferred.

  • Proficiency in using a DSLR camera.

Performance Appraisal: The Director of Development and Marketing will conduct a performance appraisal annually in the spring of each academic year.

Working Conditions: The position is a full time, 40 hours per week, twelve-month position beginning August 1 or each academic year and ending on June 30 of that academic year. Some travel and work outside of regular business hours and on weekends will be required, as necessary.

Physical Demands: Light physical effort required.  Regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach, bend, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform computer keyboarding.

FLSA Status: Position is non-exempt from overtime and timekeeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
